O you who covers himself [with a garment]

হে চাদরাবৃত

Arise and warn

উঠুন, সতর্ক করুন

And your Lord glorify

আপন পালনকর্তার মাহাত্ম্য ঘোষনা করুন

And your clothing purify

আপন পোশাক পবিত্র করুন

And uncleanliness avoid

এবং অপবিত্রতা থেকে দূরে থাকুন।

And do not confer favor to acquire more

অধিক প্রতিদানের আশায় অন্যকে কিছু দিবেন না।

But for your Lord be patient

এবং আপনার পালনকর্তার উদ্দেশে সবর করুন।

And when the trumpet is blown

যেদিন শিংগায় ফুঁক দেয়া হবে

That Day will be a difficult day

সেদিন হবে কঠিন দিন

For the disbelievers - not easy

কাফেরদের জন্যে এটা সহজ নয়।

Leave Me with the one I created alone

যাকে আমি অনন্য করে সৃষ্টি করেছি, তাকে আমার হাতে ছেড়ে দিন।

And to whom I granted extensive wealth

আমি তাকে বিপুল ধন-সম্পদ দিয়েছি।

And children present [with him]

এবং সদা সংগী পুত্রবর্গ দিয়েছি

And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]

এবং তাকে খুব সচ্ছলতা দিয়েছি।

Then he desires that I should add more

এরপরও সে আশা করে যে, আমি তাকে আরও বেশী দেই।

No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate

কখনই নয়! সে আমার নিদর্শনসমূহের বিরুদ্ধাচরণকারী।

I will cover him with arduous torment

আমি সত্ত্বরই তাকে শাস্তির পাহাড়ে আরোহণ করাব।

Indeed, he thought and deliberated

সে চিন্তা করেছে এবং মনঃস্থির করেছে

So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated

ধ্বংস হোক সে, কিরূপে সে মনঃস্থির করেছে

Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated

আবার ধ্বংস হোক সে, কিরূপে সে মনঃস্থির করেছে

Then he considered [again]

সে আবার দৃষ্টিপাত করেছে

Then he frowned and scowled

অতঃপর সে ভ্রূকুঞ্চিত করেছে ও মুখ বিকৃত করেছে

Then he turned back and was arrogant

অতঃপর পৃষ্ঠপ্রদশন করেছে ও অহংকার করেছে।

And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]

এরপর বলেছেঃ এতো লোক পরস্পরায় প্রাপ্ত জাদু বৈ নয়

This is not but the word of a human being

এতো মানুষের উক্তি বৈ নয়।

I will drive him into Saqar

আমি তাকে দাখিল করব অগ্নিতে।

And what can make you know what is Saqar

আপনি কি বুঝলেন অগ্নি কি

It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned]

এটা অক্ষত রাখবে না এবং ছাড়বেও না।

Blackening the skins

মানুষকে দগ্ধ করবে।

Over it are nineteen [angels]

এর উপর নিয়োজিত আছে উনিশ (ফেরেশতা)।

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity

আমি জাহান্নামের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক ফেরেশতাই রেখেছি। আমি কাফেরদেরকে পরীক্ষা করার জন্যেই তার এই সংখ্যা করেছি-যাতে কিতাবীরা দৃঢ়বিশ্বাসী হয়, মুমিনদের ঈমান বৃদ্ধি পায় এবং কিতাবীরা ও মুমিনগণ সন্দেহ পোষণ না করে এবং যাতে যাদের অন্তরে রোগ আছে, তারা এবং কাফেররা বলে যে, আল্লাহ এর দ্বারা কি বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন। এমনিভাবে আল্লাহ যাকে ইচ্ছা পথভ্রষ্ট করেন এবং যাকে ইচ্ছা সৎপথে চালান। আপনার পালনকর্তার বাহিনী সম্পর্কে একমাত্র তিনিই জানেন এটা তো মানুষের জন্যে উপদেশ বৈ নয়।

No! By the moon

কখনই নয়। চন্দ্রের শপথ

And [by] the night when it departs

শপথ রাত্রির যখন তার অবসান হয়

And [by] the morning when it brightens

শপথ প্রভাতকালের যখন তা আলোকোদ্ভাসিত হয়

Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions]

নিশ্চয় জাহান্নাম গুরুতর বিপদসমূহের অন্যতম

As a warning to humanity

মানুষের জন্যে সতর্ককারী।

To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind

তোমাদের মধ্যে যে সামনে অগ্রসর হয় অথবা পশ্চাতে থাকে।

Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তি তার কৃতকর্মের জন্য দায়ী

Except the companions of the right

কিন্তু ডানদিকস্থরা

[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

তারা থাকবে জান্নাতে এবং পরস্পরে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করবে।

About the criminals

অপরাধীদের সম্পর্কে

[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar

বলবেঃ তোমাদেরকে কিসে জাহান্নামে নীত করেছে

They will say, "We were not of those who prayed

তারা বলবেঃ আমরা নামায পড়তাম না

Nor did we used to feed the poor

অভাবগ্রস্তকে আহার্য্য দিতাম না

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it]

আমরা সমালোচকদের সাথে সমালোচনা করতাম।

And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

এবং আমরা প্রতিফল দিবসকে অস্বীকার করতাম।

Until there came to us the certainty

আমাদের মৃত্যু পর্যন্ত।

So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors

অতএব, সুপারিশকারীদের সুপারিশ তাদের কোন উপকারে আসবে না।

Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away

তাদের কি হল যে, তারা উপদেশ থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়

As if they were alarmed donkeys

যেন তারা ইতস্ততঃ বিক্ষিপ্ত গর্দভ।

Fleeing from a lion

হট্টগোলের কারণে পলায়নপর।

Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about

বরং তাদের প্রত্যেকেই চায় তাদের প্রত্যেককে একটি উম্মুক্ত গ্রন্থ দেয়া হোক।

No! But they do not fear the Hereafter

কখনও না, বরং তারা পরকালকে ভয় করে না।

No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder

কখনও না, এটা তো উপদেশ মাত্র।

Then whoever wills will remember it

অতএব, যার ইচ্ছা, সে একে স্মরণ করুক।

And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness

তারা স্মরণ করবে না, কিন্তু যদি আল্লাহ চান। তিনিই ভয়ের যোগ্য এবং ক্ষমার অধিকারী।
